Why We Start Every Kitchen Project in the Studio

If you’re planning a kitchen refinishing project, choosing a colour from a small swatch or online image rarely tells the full story.
At Bespoke Spray Studio, we approach colour differently.
A More Considered Way to Choose Colour
Before any spraying begins, we invite clients into our Cardiff workshop for a dedicated colour consultation.
This isn’t about flicking through charts and picking a favourite. It’s about understanding how colour behaves — how it shifts in different light, how it works alongside your worktops, flooring and walls, and how it will feel in your space day to day.
In the studio, you can:
Explore curated colour charts in a controlled environment
Compare tones side by side — warm vs cool, muted vs saturated
Build a scheme using complementary colours, not just a single finish
See real sprayed samples, not printed approximations
This step removes uncertainty and replaces it with clarity.
Designing the Whole Kitchen — Not Just the Colour
Colour is only part of the outcome.
During consultations, we also look at hardware and detailing — because handles, knobs and finishes play a huge role in how considered a kitchen feels.
We work with a small number of trusted suppliers, including:
Corston Architectural Detail
Plank Hardware
Hendel & Hendel
Having these options in the studio allows you to see how finishes sit against your chosen colour — whether that’s a softer, tonal look or a more defined contrast.
It’s often this combination — colour and hardware together — that elevates a kitchen from functional to properly designed.

Sampling Before Commitment
Once a direction is agreed, we produce spray samples using the exact coating system and substrate your kitchen will be finished in.
This is a key part of our process.
It means:
No guesswork
No surprises
No relying on how a colour “should” look
What you approve in the studio is what you receive once the kitchen is refinished.
Why Clients Come to Us Early
Increasingly, clients are coming to us before their kitchens are even installed.
The reason is simple — most off-the-shelf kitchens don’t offer the level of colour control they’re looking for.
By refinishing cabinetry through our workshop process, it’s possible to achieve a truly bespoke finish:
Exact colour matching
Consistent sheen levels
A finish applied in controlled conditions, not on-site
It allows the kitchen to be designed first, and finished properly afterwards.
Visit the Studio
