Treron Kitchen Refinement —
A Softer, More Unified Space
The original Shaker cabinetry, generous proportions and established layout of this Heath kitchen were all worth preserving. What the space needed was greater consistency between its individual elements, rather than wholesale replacement.
We brought the kitchen into balance through a carefully considered palette of Farrow & Ball Treron, bronze architectural hardware from Corston and newly fabricated Shaker-style pantry doors designed to sit seamlessly alongside the original cabinetry.
The existing worktops, natural materials and practical arrangement remain, while the renewed finishes and bespoke joinery create a calmer, more cohesive interior. A kitchen transformed through considered decisions about what to retain, refine and remake.

THE BRIEF
Bringing the existing kitchen together.
The kitchen already offered generous proportions, practical storage and an established layout.
Rather than starting again, the opportunity was to reconsider how its individual elements worked together.
Different cabinetry finishes and details had created visual separation across the room. Our approach focused on creating consistency through colour, hardware and carefully matched joinery, while preserving what was already working well.
The intention was not to create an entirely different kitchen, but to bring the existing one into balance.
THE APPROACH
A considered finish, with every detail working together.
Cabinetry refinishing in Farrow & Ball Treron
The existing doors, drawer fronts and cabinetry were professionally prepared and refinished in Treron, a muted, grey-based green with earthy undertones.
Its understated warmth works particularly well alongside the kitchen's natural timber furniture, pale stone flooring and existing worktops.
By carrying a consistent finish through the cabinetry, previously separate areas of the kitchen now feel part of one considered scheme.
Bronze hardware by Corston Architectural Detail
The existing handles were replaced with bronze hardware from Corston.
A relatively small intervention, but one that makes a significant difference to the overall finish. The warm metal complements Treron's muted colouring while introducing a more refined architectural detail.
Bespoke pantry doors
New doors were fabricated specifically for the pantry, with profiles designed to complement the existing Shaker cabinetry.
Rather than introducing an unrelated style, the new joinery was made to feel as though it had always belonged.
This attention to consistency is central to our approach: preserving existing cabinetry while making considered changes wherever they add value.
THE RESULT
Softened, unified and given a new sense of identity.
The kitchen has retained its familiar layout, natural materials and practical functionality, but now feels noticeably more cohesive.
Treron brings a quiet depth to the cabinetry. Bronze detailing introduces warmth, while the newly fabricated pantry doors create continuity between the existing and new elements.
Each decision was made in relation to the wider room, rather than in isolation.
The result is a kitchen that feels refreshed without losing the character of the original space.
An existing kitchen, carefully reconsidered.

CONSIDERING YOUR OWN KITCHEN?
A new finish. A more considered whole.
At Bespoke Kitchen Refinement, we specialise in improving existing kitchens through professional cabinetry refinishing, bespoke joinery and carefully coordinated updates.
Some kitchens simply need a beautifully executed new finish. Others benefit from new doors, hardware, surfaces or further design changes.
Our approach begins by understanding what is worth keeping, what needs improving and how the individual elements can work together.
Based in Cardiff, we work with homeowners across Cardiff and the surrounding South Wales area.
